Character Design

Here’s some fun characters I designed recently for East Dunbartonshire Council and the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival! They’ll appear on marketing material for children and families (and some large cardboard cutouts).

Kirkintilloch Canal Festival

Had a great day at the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival recently (really enjoyed watching the caricaturist Edd at work too, will need to try that sometime!) I had been asked to design cartoon characters and a colouring competition leaflet for local school children in East Dunbartonshire.  I also had the hard task of judging the competition and prizes were awarded (big bags full of lovely art materials!) to the lucky winners by Councillor Rhondda Geekie.  I met some lovely people on the day who were all in joyful spirits even if the weather was a bit cold and blustery.  Looking forward to the next one, where I hope I will get round to taking that canal boat trip I mean to do every year!

Personalised Name Canvas

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Just completed another personalised canvas for a friend’s little girl featuring a cute fairy and her toadstool house.  After I sketch out the text and image in pencil, I then paint it with good quality acrylic paints.

Then it’s time to add some fun embellishments… ribbon, buttons, flowers and sparkles!

I’ve just put it on Etsy and Folksy to see if there’s any interest out there.  I’m having a think of some designs for boys too – maybe a messy puppy next!

I’ve coloured them quickly to give you a better idea.  The stamps are just outlines of course for you to use with an ink pad and then colour and decorate as you wish!
